We have white boards!!!

Parents, thank you so much for getting white boards into the class. We now have a class set and have been using them the past two days. They are great! They help us save paper, while at the same time they are much more efficient when it comes to assessing the students. However, we need erasers! Here is the plan.. if everyone could send at least one old sock in with their students, we will have erasers for everyone. Also we are in need of a few more dry erase markers as well. But the socks are the most important thing at the moment :)

Tomorrow is September 11, and the school is suggesting that everyone where a red shirt.

Next week we will begin centers, so if you are looking for volunteer hours, centers are a great way to help. Also, if you would like to come in around 2:40 and read a story or two to the class, that would be great as well! I will post a list for times soon (probably through email this weekend).

LAST THING... for now. This is what are rotations are like throughout the week:

Monday: Spanish, Music, computer
Tuesday: Spanish, Library
Wednesday: Spanish, P.E.
Thursday: Spanish
Friday: early dismissal.

Parents!
Since we are trying to "go green" and save on paper this year, I thought it would be better to have a blog for our class to replace the weekly newsletters. However, if you have questions, comments, or concerns mail is still a great way to communicate.

This week we will be starting our rotations of music, computer, library, and Spanish. Also, this week we will begin our guided reading program so look for updates on how to help your students. Also, starting on Tuesday, September 8th please keep the reading calendars at home to record the reading minutes each night and then return the calendar at the end of the month.

Also, nightly homework will be on a slip of paper in the back of the students homework folder. This homework will not replace the reading. Your students should still be reading every night, out loud, for 20 minutes!
